We are a therapeutic counseling service where our approach is to increase the awareness of our inner and outer self, and to take an active approach to change.
We treat children, adolescents and young adults and our services include:
- Individual, group and family therapy to address challenges such as ADHD, Aspergers, Autism/PDD, ODD, Anger Management, Anxiety, Depression, Low Self-Esteem or issues related to adoption, divorce and/or blended families or other similar issues.
- Training with parents to find healthy, constructive ways to parent and communicate with their children that face these challenges.
- Private coaching to children, adolescents, teens and young adults to address interviewing preparation for private schools, college and new jobs.
- We also enjoy requests from schools to present on therapeutic topics to assist in creating a positive and helpful environment.
The thought behind INNERACTIONS is for the individual to take ACTION on their inner and outer self and to strengthen ones relationship with others. Taking ACTION to improve one's social skills, increase one's self- esteem, foster positive relationships, and take action in one's life to solve problems and to promote positive change can lead to positive “inner” actions and interactions. We believe that getting ACTIVE is also an important concept in changing behavior patterns. More specifically, exercise and the combination of “talk therapy” has proven extremely successful in reducing behavioral symptoms related to anxiety, ADHD, mood disorders and more (Dr. John Ratey's book “Spark” discusses these successes). So the more active you are, the better you feel and the more motivated you are to change.
Change can occur when a person feels safe and comfortable to share personal hardships and willing to accept helpful feedback from ones peers and a therapist. Through this feedback an individual can gain self-awareness to take ACTION and make changes.
Difficulties can manifest themselves in the home, at school or workplace, at play or extra curricular activities.
Our goal is to create a safe, accepting, supportive and ACTIVE environment to build trust and to learn and practice more healthy and positive ways to think about oneself and interact with others. Through ALL of our therapies we continue to practice ACTIVE, realistic and practical techniques and solutions.
