Group therapy for teens
Find your people, build your confidence, and navigate school life.
Being a teenager today is tougher than ever. You're trying to figure out who you are, what you want, and where you fit in, all while dealing with school stress, social media pressure, and the roller coaster of friendships. It's easy to feel overwhelmed, isolated, or like you're the only one struggling.
At Inneractions Therapy Services, we get it. Our specialized teen therapy groups provide a safe, FUN, low-pressure space to connect with other teens who are going through similar experiences. This isn't a classroom or a lecture—it's a supportive environment where teens can learn to manage stress, build genuine confidence, and find their voice in a fun, engaging way.
The Power of Connection: What makes Group Therapy Different
While individual therapy is incredibly valuable, group therapy offers a unique benefit: the power of connection with your peers. At Inneractions we specialize in giving clients the opportunity to learn skills to help them better connect with the people around them. Instead of talking to one therapist, you're learning and growing alongside other teens who understand exactly what you're facing.
Our groups are a collaborative space where teens get to:
Gain new perspectives: Hear from peers who are facing similar challenges, offering you new ways to think about your own situation.
Build a support network: Form genuine, lasting connections in a guided environment, building a support system that extends beyond the therapy room.
Reduce feelings of isolation: Discover you're not alone in your struggles. Hearing someone else share a similar experience can be a huge relief and help you feel more understood.
Practice social skills: Our groups are a safe space to try out new ways of communicating, whether it's starting a conversation, expressing your opinion, or handling conflict.
Groups designed to help teens thrive
We know that every teen’s journey is different. That's why we offer specialized groups to meet them exactly where they are, using interactive and experiential methods that make therapy feel less like work and school, and more like play and hanging out with friends. Our groups are tailored specifically to each group member’s goals but some common themes we notice are:
Navigating Friendships and Social Confidence
Our teen social skills groups are a place to work on the everyday challenges of teenage social life in a fun and safe environment. We focus on topics like managing social anxiety, building and maintaining friendships, handling peer pressure, and developing the confidence to be yourself. We use a variety of activities—from group discussions to games and collaborative activities—to keep things engaging and help teens practice these skills in a low-stakes environment.
A Safe Space for Neurodivergent Teens
We believe that every teen deserves a place to feel understood and connected. Our groups for neurodivergent teens create a safe and neurodiversity affirming space for those with autism, ADHD, and other neurodivergences. The focus is on building meaningful connections with peers who share similar experiences. Our therapists use a strengths-based approach, celebrating each group member’s unique way of thinking and helping them develop communication skills and social strategies in a supportive environment helping them feel seen and valued.
Interactive & Experiential Play: When Therapy is Fun
For teens who may not feel comfortable with traditional talk therapy, we use experiential therapy to get to the heart of what’s going on. By using games, art, and other fun activities, we bypass the pressure of "just talking." These methods allow you to express yourself, practice new skills, and work through complex emotions in a way that feels natural and engaging.
Roll for Therapy: Therapeutic Role Playing Groups
Imagine a space where you can be a hero, a wizard, or a rogue, and in the process, learn to be more confident in the real world. Our Therapeutic Role Playing (RPG) Group are not just games—they're intentional therapeutic tools. By stepping into a tabletop roleplaying game, similar to Dungeons & Dragons, you can work through real-world issues in a creative, low-stakes way.
Led by a licensed therapist who acts as the "Game Master," these groups are designed to help you build a wide range of skills, including:
Creative problem-solving
Collaboration and teamwork
Empathy and perspective-taking
Emotional regulation
And more!
This is a powerful way to engage in therapy while doing something you genuinely enjoy. For more details on this unique approach, check out our dedicated RPG page.
Our Approach: Fun, Creative, and Effective
Our client’s comfort and privacy are our top priorities. When you contact us, we'll start with a free, brief consultation to ensure you’re placed in a group that fits your goals and sensory needs. From there our licensed therapists do a comprehensive intake session with you to learn more about your background, goals, and personality to help us find the best fit for your needs. Our groups are kept small (typically 3-6 members) and are led by a licensed therapist who facilitates a safe, confidential, and engaging environment that is also FUN. We believe that therapy should feel like a space where you can be your true self, and we are committed to making that a reality.
Skills You’ll Gain
By joining a group, you're not just getting therapy; you're building a toolkit for a more confident and connected life. You will develop:
Real confidence to be yourself in any situation.
Effective tools to handle stress and social anxiety.
The ability to make and keep lasting friendships.
A stronger voice to express your thoughts and feelings.
The feeling of being understood by others who "get it."
And many more!
